ah, opera!

How about this clip? Hard to hear it without wishing:
a) to hear more!
b) that I were sitting in the opera house.
Actually, I defy anyone who has ever heard a great opera orchestra and chorus live, at full tilt not to feel a frisson when hearing these 30 seconds.


This clip from Verdi’s Otello arrived in my inbox after a walk with another musician down by the river where we heard a passing tugboat sounding quite like the trumpets here in their surprise B-flat entrance. If you are new to this sort of thing, give a listen at about 14 seconds in.
